Job summary

Wills Consultants is recruiting an experienced Senior Software Developer to join a technical team supporting complex software solutions within the logistics and warehouse automation sector. You will develop and support Java-based software using Oracle, lead technical investigations, mentor junior developers, and collaborate with Project Managers and Service Account Managers to ensure high-quality releases.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ commercial software development experience.
• Strong experience with Java or another object-oriented language.
• Experience with Oracle/SQL and relational databases.
• Knowledge of Hibernate, JUnit, JMS and XML.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience mentoring or leading developers.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Logistics/warehouse automation experience desirable.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support commercial software using Java and Oracle.
• Provide 2nd Level Support and troubleshoot complex customer issues.
• Lead technical investigations and root cause analysis.
• Manage fixes, patches and software releases.
• Mentor and support junior developers.
• Work closely with Project Managers and Service Account Managers.
• Create technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
• Support continuous improvement and system stability.
