Job summary

IntaPeople are partnered with a fintech scaleup in Cardiff city centre, scaling the Product Engineering team with a Senior Java Engineer.

You will focus on feature delivery, coach juniors, design and implement complex features, and write design documentation. The role leverages Java/Spring Boot on the backend, React/TypeScript on the frontend, and AWS cloud services.

Senior Java Engineer

IntaPeople are partnered with a fintech scaleup in Cardiff city centre and are scaling up the Product Engineering team with a Senior Java Engineer.

About the roles:

• The role is focused on feature delivery within product engineering. We re looking for an established Senior Engineer who coaches and mentors juniors and mid-level engineers, helping them develop their skills to progress within their careers.
• You'll take on challenging problems your team faces, including designing solutions to complex features and writing the design documentation that others build from. You'll work within the technical direction set by your Lead Engineer and be one of the people they rely on to turn that direction into working software.
• The tech stack is React and TypeScript on the frontend, Java with Spring Boot on the backend, and PostgreSQL with schema-per-tenant multi-tenancy underneath, all cloud-hosted on AWS.
• You'll hold the quality bar for your team through code review, pairing and the example you set, and you'll lead the delivery of large features.

About you:

• A background in financial services (specifically mortgages) would be ideal, however any experience or understanding of a highly regulated industry will be beneficial
• You re a hungry dev who wants to keep developing their skills, learning new things and collaborating with the wider team.
• You enjoy knowledge sharing and helping lesser experienced engineers develop their skills, you will have the opportunity to influence the technical direction in this role.
• An interest in GenAI is desirable, they have some agentic workflows built in Claude but they are using AI as a tool rather than replacing the team s ability to code.
