Job summary

Scrumconnect Consulting is hiring a Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable server-side services and APIs, while advancing Agentic AI capabilities within the engineering platform. The role operates at SFIA Level 4, allowing guidance to juniors and influence over team objectives.

You will work on Java/Spring Boot backends, contribute to architecture, and implement end-to-end backend solutions with modern practices in an Agile/Scrum setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• 10-15 years' commercial backend development experience.
• Proven experience delivering production-grade services in Agile/Scrum teams.
• Experience with AI/LLM capabilities in production systems is a plus.
• Strong communication and ability to explain technical trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs using Java/Spring Boot (or equivalent stack).
• Contribute to system architecture and data model design with senior engineers.
• Write clean, well-tested code following TDD/BDD practices and team standards.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Integrate backend services with databases, messaging systems, and third-party APIs.
• Build and operate agentic AI workflows integrating LLM-based agents and tools.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, containerised deployments, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure).
• Diagnose and resolve production issues with monitoring and observability practices.
• Document designs, APIs, and agent workflows for engineers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and product teams within an Agile/Scrum delivery model.
