Job summary

EPAM Systems in London is seeking a Java Developer for a hybrid role. You will design, develop and maintain complex Java and Python applications, guiding architecture and leading technical initiatives across global teams.

You will mentor developers, drive code quality through reviews and automated tests, and deliver production-ready solutions while thriving in a dynamic, open environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in core backend software development.
• Excellent algorithm and problem-solving skills.
• Translate business use cases into technical solutions.
• Fast learner, creative, results-driven and self-motivated.
• Can-do attitude, leads change and thinks strategically.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and automation (Jenkins/GitLab or similar).
• Experience with performance optimization and JVM profiling.
• Strong Java knowledge with data structures & algorithms.
• Proficiency in relational databases (Oracle/SQL Server/PostgreSQL).
• Proficient in DevOps practices (CI/CD).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain complex Java and Python based applications and services using industry-standard methodologies and tools
• Architect new systems or reuse existing systems that drive complex applications
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX teams and Software Engineers around the globe to deliver outstanding products
• Engage actively from requirements gathering and design to the final stages of testing and deployment
• Establish and maintain automated tests to guarantee applications are robust, scalable and secure
• Proactively solve production issues, deduce root causes and implement timely fixes or workarounds
• Perform code reviews to ensure applications meet or exceed specified standards and objectives
• Deliver Level 3 production support by efficiently diagnosing and resolving issues to minimize disruption to business operations
• Analyse incidents, identify root causes, implement preventive measures and deliver timely fixes
