We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior IT Support Engineer / Lead IT Technician who is highly technical with a solid IT infrastructure / IT support background covering Microsoft Windows, Networks, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing and knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, who also have team management and leadership skills.

Working as the Senior IT Support Engineer / Lead IT Technician you will be responsible for overseeing the organisation’s IT infrastructure, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and aligned with business needs. Acting as the key liaison with the Senior Leadership Team, the postholder will support the development and delivery of the IT strategy, driving innovation and ensuring technology underpins operational efficiency. With a strong focus on service quality, the role will require proactive monitoring of systems, oversight of network performance, and the implementation of robust security and recovery measures to minimise downtime and risk.

As the Senior IT Support Engineer / Lead IT Technician you will also provide leadership and direction to the IT Technician, supporting their development while ensuring daily tasks are effectively managed. The role will include responsibility for procurement, asset management, and compliance with licensing requirements, alongside reporting on IT performance and contributing to budget planning. By fostering collaboration, promoting best practice, and supporting staff in the effective use of technology, you will play a key role in enabling digital transformation and maintaining a modern, resilient IT environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • IT Strategy & Innovation: Support and implement the IT strategy in collaboration with the IT Technician and Senior Leadership Team, adapting to business needs and driving innovation, including AI
  • Communication & Reporting: Maintain regular communication with stakeholders and attend management meetings, providing reports as required
  • Team Leadership: Manage the daily tasks of the IT Technician, offering support, feedback, and promoting professional development
  • Infrastructure Management: Ensure optimal performance of servers, networks, and related systems while proactively monitoring to prevent downtime
  • Security Oversight: Maintain and monitor firewalls, antivirus, and web filtering to safeguard systems
  • Software & Licensing: Oversee software distribution, updates, and ensure licensing compliance
  • Backup & Recovery: Implement robust backup and recovery procedures to protect business continuity
  • Procurement & Budgeting: Advise on equipment needs, support stock management, and contribute to IT budget planning
  • Asset & Resource Management: Maintain inventories, manage user accounts, and ensure correct disposal of end-of-life equipment
  • Systems & Support: Troubleshoot phone systems, LAN, cabling, and maintain Windows environments
  • Hardware & Software Maintenance: Repair, upgrade, and configure IT equipment and applications
  • Staff Training: Support and train staff in effective IT use, fostering digital capability across the organisation
  • Facilities & Equipment: Manage the IT tech room, equipment spares, printers, and consumables
  • Flexibility: Work flexibly, including outside normal hours when required
