Job summary

West Midlands Police IT & Digital department is responsible for adopting and using information and digital technology across the force. The role covers architecture, delivery and service management to keep infrastructure and services secure, available and high performing.

Key responsibilities include specialist support for email, directory services, data centres and incident/availability management. The position is hybrid with 36.5 hours per week and requires vetting and medical checks; closing

Qualifications

• Provide specialist technical skills to ensure security, integrity, availability and performance of infrastructure software (email, directory services, collaboration software, application delivery platforms).
• Ensure security and performance of data centres, data storage, servers and backups.
• Support directory services infrastructure (Active Directory, IAM, PKI).
• Manage incident, configuration, availability, capacity, continuity and release management per ITIL.
• Offer specialist/technical guidance to interpret customer needs and make decisions when solutions aren’t obvious.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist technical skills to ensure security, integrity, availability and performance of the Force’s infrastructure software (email, directory services, collaboration software, applications).
• Maintain data centres, data storage, servers and backups to ensure reliability and resilience.
• Maintain directory services infrastructure (e.g. Active Directory, IAM, PKI).
• Lead incident, configuration, availability, capacity, continuity and release management per ITIL.
