The Role
Working as a member of the Commercial and Portfolio Team, you will be responsible for the definition and delivery of the IT elements of major estates related projects which link with the goals and ambitions of the University’s strategy and objectives.
The role will lead discussions with the University’s key stakeholders, including the Estates’ Client Representative (acting as IT Estates PM), Senior Leadership Group members related to the project, IT Leadership members and their teams, to produce detailed specifications for IT related solutions and activities required to successfully deliver the Estates’ projects. You will work with members of the Estates team, the relevant project team members (both internal and external), the ITS Service Delivery Manager, vendor assigned project teams, IT Commercial and Portfolio Team members and other stakeholders to develop approaches throughout the project life cycle, to drive successful delivery of the project or initiatives. This includes defining budgets, developing project plans, co-ordinating (with Service Delivery representatives) appropriate delivery plans and successfully communicating change for projects within the IT & Estates project portfolio.
There is an emphasis on ITIL processes, KU ITS Delivery methodology (waterfall), and agile methods to each delivery approach. Estates projects follow the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Plan of Work process. The post holder will need to ensure IT specifications, procurement, and delivery processes align with this, considering total cost of ownership for the IT service being delivered, and assessing impact both technically and financially on the BAU environment and continual service improvement processes to ensure new programmes deliver a high-quality service for the University’s staff and students.
The Person
Background and Experience Required:
Substantial experience with a proven track record of successful project management of delivering complex IT, in an Estates programme context with full project lifecycle delivery from conception to implementation.
Demonstrable ability to develop and deliver effective working relationships with colleagues across IT Services and the wider University community, within either a traditional or matrix environment.
Significant experience of initiating and managing multiple priorities, delivering to budget, communicating effectively to drive successful implementation, and contributing to ITS strategic goals and objectives.
