Job summary

Proactive IT Appointments Limited is seeking an experienced Senior IT Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design, delivery, and ongoing operation of its cloud and infrastructure platforms.

You will design, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure, support cloud migration initiatives, and provide 2nd/3rd line technical support across the wider IT estate, working with IT Operations and Change teams to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services.
• Experience in managing enterprise cloud environments and hybrid cloud setups.
• Knowledge of Azure networking, storage, identities, and security best practices.
• Experience with cloud migration projects and providing 2nd/3rd line infrastructure support.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, maintain, and support Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
• Contribute to cloud migration projects and design of new infrastructure platforms.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd line infrastructure support, liaising with internal teams and third-party suppliers.
• Monitor, optimise, and manage cloud performance, availability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Deliver technical implementation for infrastructure changes and participate in CAB activities.
• Support disaster recovery planning, business continuity testing, and cyber security initiatives to meet regulatory requirements.
• Maintain documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
• Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement across IT infrastructure.

Senior IT Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior IT Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design, delivery, and ongoing operation of its cloud and infrastructure platforms.

Working as part of a collaborative IT team, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, supporting cloud migration initiatives, and providing 2nd/3rd line technical support across the wider IT estate. You’ll work closely with IT Operations, Applications, Change and Delivery teams to drive continuous improvement and enhance the stability and performance of critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, maintain, and support Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments.
• Contribute to cloud migration projects and the design of new infrastructure platforms.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd line infrastructure support, working with internal teams and third‑party suppliers to resolve complex technical issues.
• Monitor, optimise, and manage cloud performance, availability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Deliver technical implementation for infrastructure changes and participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) activities.
• Support disaster recovery planning, business continuity testing, and cyber security initiatives to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, technical standards, and operational procedures.
• Identify opportunities for automation, optimisation and continuous improvement across the IT infrastructure estate.

Skills & Experience

• Strong hands‑on experience designing, deploying, and supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services.
• Proven experience supporting complex enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Solid understanding of Azure networking, virtual machines, storage, identity management and security best practices.
• Experience with cloud migration projects and hybrid cloud environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with experience providing 2nd/3rd line infrastructure support.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery, business continuity and cyber security principles.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
