Job Description

We are looking for a talented Senior Application Analyst to join our team specializing in Systems / Information Technology for Cummins in Darlington, County Durham, United Kingdom.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Providing comprehensive application functionality, configuration, and support expertise for application software solutions.
  • Collaboration with business analysts, architects, technical experts, and software vendors on solution requirements, design, configuration, functionality gap resolution, implementation, support, maintenance, and enhancement of the applications. Collaborate with both internal and external resources to execute work effectively, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Lead smaller business impact and IT improvement projects taking full accountability for project outcomes. Regularly monitoring and communicating project status to the team and stakeholders will ensure transparency and keep everyone informed. Ability to manage expectations, meet deadlines, and handle multiple engagements.
  • Drive process improvements by leveraging continuous improvement tools and developing new standards and work methods. Develop and improve work processes and systems within your functional discipline, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the business unit. Support the planning, design, procurement, and implementation of manufacturing IT systems and processes.
  • Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve application and systems problems, ensuring innovation in functional delivery process improvements, such as documentation, automated testing, and configuration methods. Demonstrated skills in multitask management in fast-paced work environments to meet customer demands.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Review the work of less-experienced team members, providing guidance and ensuring robust, reusable, and efficient designs. Assist in the transfer of knowledge through documenting and sharing best practices with less experienced colleagues within the team.
  • Create Functional Specifications: Managing functional specifications for projects ensures that programs and configurations are applied correctly to create effective solutions.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serving as a subject matter expert and point of contact for assigned applications ensures that projects and application support are handled with deep knowledge and expertise.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Having a can-do attitude to deliver results according to the requirements from Business and BU IT.
  • A strong sense of accountability, with the ability to own projects and deliverables from the Plant IT team.
  • Proven ability to integrate into a team and build relationships with senior leaders, managers, developers, testers, DBAs, and other IT stakeholders (GPVs and Client IT organization).
  • Ability to remove obstacles and deliver results within planned timelines and proactiveness in improving functional delivery processes, such as documentation, automated testing, and innovative configuration methods.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • University or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related subject, or relevant equivalent experience required.
  • Proven professional experience preferably with a manufacturing company.
  • Proven track record in managing complex applications and leading implementation projects.
  • Extensive experience in gathering requirements, documenting the SDLC, and designing IT solutions tailored to meet the needs of manufacturing plant IT systems.
  • Extensive experience with manufacturing IT systems and related technologies, including ERP software, Dassault MES, cloud technology, IoT, Microsoft IT applications (Power BI, PowerApps), and AI tools.
  • Proficient in programming languages including C#, ASP.NET, VB.NET, Oracle SQL, and PL/SQL.
  • Well-versed in additional programming languages such as C, C++, JavaScript, and Python.
  • Good understanding of Industry 4.0, with hands-on experience in technologies such as IIoT, advanced robotics, computer vision, and analytics.
  • Proficiency in developing test scenarios, implementing system solutions, and leading system testing and issue resolution. Hands-on experience with new-age technologies for UI and business solutions.
