Railpen is seeking a Senior Investment Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract in London. The role involves overseeing investments made through third-party asset managers, focusing on fixed income and ensuring alignment with pension obligations. Ideal candidates will have experience in manager selection, portfolio management, and a strong understanding of various asset classes.
An exciting opportunity to join our Public Markets team on a 12-month fixed-term contract as a Senior Investment Manager within the External Manager Oversight team based in our London office (hybrid working).
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest-established pension funds.

The Senior Investment Manager will be responsible for ensuring that investments made through outsourcing to third-party asset managers meet our members' pension obligations. The role covers all major public market asset classes and alternatives, with a predominant focus on fixed income.
This role is suitable for an individual who has experience in manager selection along with portfolio management. The successful candidate will have experienced at least one market cycle and possess deep knowledge of most fixed income sub-asset classes, as well as some exposure to equities and alternatives.
To succeed in this role, you will require good attention to detail, the ability to work within agreed timescales, and effective collaboration and communication skills. The ability to prioritize and forward plan is key for this role.
