Job summary

Avetix Engineering in the United Kingdom is seeking an electrical/electronics engineer to join its Intrinsic Safety team and help evaluate products against EN/IEC 60079-11. The role combines technical design and client-facing activities within a small, growing company.

You will assess products to applicable standards, prepare technical reports and certificates, and contribute to quotations and client meetings. Senior engineers may mentor trainees and review drafts.

Qualifications

• An applicable degree, HND or HNC technical qualification is required, electronics or electrical subjects are preferred.
• Experience in assessing products against EN/IEC 60079-11, or the designing of a product to the same standards.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are essential.
• Attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple activities at once, a collaborative work ethic and a demonstrable desire to deliver outstanding service.

This is both a technical and client-facing role that would suit an electrical and/or electronics engineer who is currently working for a manufacturer of electronic, electrical, process or industrial equipment in a product design capacity or working for a certification body; and who is enthusiastic, pragmatic, and thorough and who enjoys being part of a small, growing team.

Responsibilities

The initial focus will be to become part of the Intrinsic Safety team and evaluate products against EN/IEC 60079-11.

The expectation is that the role would involve responsibility for:

• Assessment of products designed to national, regional and international standards.
• Preparation of technical reports, technical files and certificates
• Preparation of quotations
• Technical advice meetings with clients

Senior roles may include responsibility for review of draft reports and mentoring trainee certification engineers.

Requirements

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are essential as is attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple activities at once, a collaborative work ethic and a demonstrable desire to deliver outstanding service internally and externally.

An applicable degree, HND or HNC technical qualification is required, electronics or electrical subjects are preferred.

Experience in assessing products against the requirements of EN/IEC 60079-11, or the designing of a product to the same standards. Experience in other Ex standards is also advantageous.
