Job summary

TXP seeks a Senior Integration Architect for a Public Sector Transformation Programme. Location: Remote with occasional travel to client sites, for a 6-month contract with extension potential. Rate up to £700 per day (Inside IR35).

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in enterprise integration architecture within large-scale transformation or migration programmes.
• Strong expertise in API design, REST services, and OpenAPI specs.
• Experience delivering service-based and distributed architectures.
• Working knowledge of enterprise integration platforms and related tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver integration solutions for migration from legacy platforms to modern integration platforms.
• Define API specifications and integration patterns including transforming legacy SOAP services to RESTful APIs.
• Apply API-first and domain-driven integration approaches for reuse and maintainability.
• Contribute to end-to-end solution design aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
• Promote CI/CD, automated testing, and shift-left delivery practices.
• Support risk, dependency, and migration planning activities.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and stakeholders to ensure delivery.
• Contribute to architecture governance and design assurance.

The Opportunity

We are supporting a major public sector transformation programme focused on modernising and simplifying a large-scale enterprise integration landscape. This multi-year initiative is driving the migration from legacy technologies to strategic platforms, enabling the successful transition to modern cloud-based architecture and supporting wider digital transformation objectives.

As a Senior Integration Architect, you will play a key role in designing and delivering integration solutions within a large-scale migration programme. Working closely with architecture, engineering, and product teams, you will help shape the future integration strategy while ensuring high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions are delivered across the programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver integration solutions, migrating services from legacy platforms to modern strategic integration platforms.
• Define API specifications and integration patterns, including the transformation of legacy SOAP services into modern RESTful APIs.
• Apply API-first and domain-driven integration approaches to support reuse, resilience, and long-term maintainability.
• Contribute to end-to-end solution design, ensuring alignment with wider enterprise architecture principles and transformation objectives.
• Promote modern engineering practices including automated testing, CI/CD, shift-left delivery, and automation.
• Support the identification and management of technical risks, dependencies, and migration planning activities.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams, product owners, business stakeholders, and SMEs to ensure successful delivery.
• Contribute to architecture governance, technical documentation, and design assurance activities.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience in enterprise integration architecture and delivery within large-scale transformation or migration programmes.
• Strong expertise in API design, REST services, OpenAPI specifications, and modern integration patterns.
• Experience designing and implementing service-based and distributed architectures.
• Working knowledge of enterprise integration platforms such as SAP Integration Suite, API Management platforms, or similar technologies.
• Experience delivering integration migration or modernisation programmes.
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability.
• Experience working across multiple delivery teams and contributing to broader architectural strategy and governance.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable Experience

• Experience within central government or wider public sector environments.
• Exposure to large-scale ERP transformation programmes.
• Experience supporting cloud-based integration strategies and platform modernisation initiatives.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted delivery approaches, including code analysis, automation, and documentation generation.
• Familiarity with strategic integration platforms and API management solutions.
