Secondment until 30 October 2026, Full-time: 37 Hours per Week, Band 8A (£62,681 - £67,665), Glasgow/Edinburgh, Hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future

Quality Assurance Directorate of Healthcare Improvement Scotland has an interesting and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and positive healthcare professional to lead, manage and deliver a portfolio of high-profile inspections which meet legislative, statutory and national requirements for delivery of care and services to the people of Scotland. This post is to provide senior inspector leadership across NHS inspections, acute, maternity and mental health inspection programmes.

You will have extensive knowledge of health with substantial senior management and leadership experience, working in NHS, HSCP, or Independent Healthcare. Be able to demonstrate high level analytical skills to analyse, interpret and present in written and verbal form, complex information. The post holder will be required to provide senior leadership expertise, clinical assurance, and senior management support and expertise across the NHS inspection programmes.

As an experienced healthcare professional, you will have experience of working at a senior leadership and management level. You will be required to lead the continued development of acute, maternity and mental health inspection programmes by providing expertise and support aligned with the principles of the Quality Assurance System and framework as part of a Quality Management System.

Candidates must hold a current professional registration and have recent experience of working in a senior leadership role providing professional and clinical oversight and guidance in relation to strategic planning and delivery of care. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will be fundamental to success in this role. In addition, candidates will have experience and knowledge of Scottish health and social care systems, structures and policies.

Regular travel throughout Scotland will be required (including overnight stays), this may be required at short notice.
