Job summary

Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in Manchester is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join the Specialist Devices team. You will design and deliver infrastructure services, lead technical delivery, and modernise devices for thousands of colleagues and citizens.

The role focuses on macOS, Jamf and ChromeOS environments, with responsibility for stability, emerging tech adoption, and cross-site device replacements across 600 sites nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver infrastructure services in collaboration with Architecture teams, ensuring alignment with engineering principles, standards and best practice.
• Take accountability for infrastructure solutions, ensuring operational stability, robustness, resilience, availability and service quality.
• Provide technical leadership across a multidisciplinary team, specialising in macOS, Jamf and ChromeOS technologies while driving continuous improvement and the adoption of emerging technologies.
• Support and enhance the Engineering Platform used by approximately 3,500 colleagues to develop and test digital solutions across DWP.
• Maintain and develop Creative Device services that enable media and video professionals to create and deliver departmental campaigns.
• Deliver infrastructure services and data insight capabilities that enhance the Department's digital experience and support informed decision-making.
• Lead and support the replacement of approximately 4,500 citizen-facing devices across more than 600 sites, helping to modernise technology and improve digital services for citizens nationwide.
