Job summary

Metroline Head Office in Cricklewood is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to drive the design, delivery, and continual improvement of the organisation's IT infrastructure platforms and services. You will lead infrastructure projects from conception through to implementation, working with internal stakeholders, third-party suppliers, and members of the IT team.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years’ infrastructure engineering experience.
Proven experience leading complex infrastructure projects.
Experience in enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
Strong understanding of networking concepts (LAN, WAN, VLAN, VPN, routing, switching, firewalls).
Experience with infrastructure security, hardening, and compliance requirements.
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Full manual driving licence; travel to alternate locations may be required.

Responsibilities

Design, architect, and implement secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure solutions.
Develop infrastructure roadmaps aligned with business and technology strategies.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to infrastructure services.
Ensure infrastructure designs meet security, compliance and operational requirements.
Lead and deliver infrastructure projects from requirements gathering through design, implementation, testing, documentation, and transition to support.
Produce project plans, technical designs, implementation schedules, risk assessments, and support documentation.
Coordinate project activities with internal teams, external suppliers, and business stakeholders.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with agreed business objectives.
Maintain and support the company's core infrastructure platforms, ensuring high availability and performance.
Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and problems.
Proactively identify and resolve potential service issues before they impact the business.
Implement automation and infrastructure-as-code practices where appropriate.
Monitor platform performance, capacity, and security posture.
Maintain and regularly test Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions.
Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, standards, procedures, and operational runbooks.
