Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Managed Systems Operability

Description & Requirements

As a Systems Operability Engineer, you will join a highly motivated, experienced, and dynamic team responsible for providing automatic remediation solutions, stability efforts, and self-service tooling to manage Bloomberg’s server fleet. Our team offers a low-friction customer experience by providing tooling to unify Appliance and Datacenter server environments, regardless of the underlying infrastructure. We utilize the latest automation technologies to reduce operational toil, enhance the stability of our mission-critical infrastructure services, and facilitate maintenance of Bloomberg's server fleet at scale.

You will work closely with Software Developers, Frontline teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with business strategies and best practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to CI/CD frameworks and pipelines
  • Draft process flow charts and procedures, perform capacity planning, and implement changes
  • Diagnose and resolve critical system issues
  • Refine processes and procedures with a focus on standardization and automation
  • Enhance monitoring and alerting solutions
Requirements:
  • Experience programming in Python or related languages, with a good understanding of software development methodologies, open source systems, and Git
  • Expertise in analyzing, diagnosing, and solving problems in Linux/Unix production environments
  • Ability to automate Linux system management using tools like Salt, Chef, Jenkins, or Ansible
  • Strong desire to collaborate and share knowledge within a team
  • RHEL System Administrator level competency
  • Understanding of configuration management, orchestration, CI/CD, infrastructure monitoring, and telemetry
  • Experience working in Agile environments (e.g., Kanban or Scrum)
  • Familiarity with telemetry tools such as Splunk and Grafana
  • Experience with web frameworks like Django, React, Angular, or Bento
