SENIOR INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000

What you’ll do
- As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play an essential role in ensuring the secure operation and continuous improvement of the systems infrastructure supporting critical business operations.
- Balance hands-on technical tasks—such as configuring hypervisors or deploying new applications—with strategic planning around automation and monitoring.
- Develop robust internal tools that drive efficiency across environments and participate in incident response duties as part of an on-call rota.
- Produce clear, professional diagrams and documentation that accurately reflect system architecture and operational processes for technical teams and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of new technologies into existing infrastructure, maintaining high standards of reliability.
- Diagnose complex technical issues with a methodical troubleshooting approach to minimise downtime and ensure service continuity.
- Prioritise multiple tasks effectively by balancing hands-on work with higher-level planning.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvement by identifying opportunities for automation or enhanced monitoring capabilities.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in infrastructure engineering to recommend improvements aligned with organisational goals.
What you bring
- Demonstrated experience as a systems administrator or similar role within relevant industries such as telecommunications or enterprise IT services.
- Advanced proficiency with Linux/Unix systems (including RedHat and Debian variants) and experience managing Windows Server and Desktop environments.
- Strong scripting abilities using Bash, PowerShell, or Ansible; familiarity with Python is advantageous for further automation.
- Expertise in virtualization platforms and container orchestration technologies, including tooling to optimise resource utilisation across workloads.
- Hands-on knowledge of monitoring stacks such as Prometheus or Grafana and log management solutions like ELK/EFK or equivalents.
- Proven ability to diagnose intricate technical problems using structured troubleshooting methodologies that minimise disruption to business operations.
- Excellent organisational skills for prioritising concurrent tasks in fast-evolving infrastructure landscapes.
- Excellent written communication skills for producing clear diagrams and professional documentation for technical audiences and stakeholders.
