Job description

Coventry Building Society has an exciting new role for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Data Platform Services to join our CIDO department.

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will provide strategic expertise to ensure effective management of technical and business services within your specialist area. You will be responsible for the transition and ongoing support of relevant solutions at CBS to meet business requirements and align with IT architectural strategies.

You will provide a high level of technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve production incidents or problems, ensuring operational IT needs are met, and business-as-usual services are maintained within agreed SLAs. The role involves identifying improvement opportunities, coaching, mentoring, planning, supervising, supporting, and training your team.

This role requires the successful candidate to be on-site in Coventry at least 2 days a week and be available for out-of-hours support on a rota basis—one week as primary support and one week as secondary support, in a cycle of five weeks.

About you

You should have a proactive approach, a desire to develop and improve processes, and a willingness to learn new systems and technologies. Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies is essential. You should have knowledge and experience with IBM Cognos – Analytics & Data Modelling, administering PowerBi, Data Gateway, Fabric, and ideally some experience with administering Qlik – Replicate, Compose & Enterprise Manager.

To be successful, you must demonstrate:

  • Experience supporting and administering SAS Analytics
  • Experience administering and configuring Informatica
  • Knowledge of SSIS, AWS Redshift, AWS concepts & practices, Agile methodologies, ServiceNow, and Jira
  • Knowledge of SQL Server databases, supporting applications within AWS and Azure, and understanding systems management procedures in a large, mission-critical environment
  • Experience with capacity planning, performance tuning, proactive monitoring, ITIL-based service management, and creating documentation using Microsoft Office

Desirable skills include:

  • Strong IT Infrastructure skills with Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, and/or 2022
  • Application support skills, PowerShell/Ansible scripting experience
  • Experience producing high-quality documentation and user guides, working under pressure with attention to detail
  • Flexibility to meet deadlines and adapt working hours as needed
