Our Client is a leading communications brand with an outstanding reputation for customer service and value commitment. An opportunity has now arisen within their team for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Cloud Services to join their professional services team.
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with customers to design and deliver complex, enterprise-level infrastructures that integrate and leverage the company's solutions. You will be involved in the full lifecycle, from initial engagement and solution design to ongoing third-line support. Specific duties will include:
- Design, administer, and manage systems including VMware vCloud, vCenter, vSphere, storage, Linux, Windows, SQL, VMware NSX, physical networking, firewalls, and security devices.
- Resolve complex technical issues at the root cause level.
- Provide professional consultancy on infrastructure technologies, including cloud service onboarding.
- Raise and manage support cases with third-party vendors, escalating as necessary.
- Contribute proactively to continuous service improvement with ideas and suggestions.
- Mentor and guide team members in their areas of expertise.
- Create documentation for new systems, services, and technologies, including procedures.
- Prioritize and manage your time effectively, balancing stakeholder expectations, business-as-usual activities, and projects.
- Assist the Commercial team with proposals, statements of work, and supporting documents for prospects.
- Present the Cloud Services vision, technologies, and strategy to executives and technical teams.
- Liaise with customers on virtual infrastructure design, network configuration, migration, and backup/DR strategies.
- Support all Cloud Services as part of an out-of-hours on-call rota.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Expertise in IT infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, storage, virtualization, and security devices.
- 5+ years of experience in a senior systems administration role, preferably in a service provider environment.
- Knowledge of ITIL, ISO27001, and PCI-DSS standards (preferred).
- Expertise in backup and replication technologies.
- Professional qualifications such as VCP, MCSE, CCNP, or equivalent.
- A proven track record of delivering excellent customer service.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to act independently and show initiative in problem-solving.
- High accuracy, excellent time management, and organizational skills.
- Experience in managing customer relationships and advising clients confidently.
- Ability to handle challenging situations successfully across various management levels.
