Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced IT Infrastructure Lead to join our organisation in Stoke-on-Trent, working three days a week on-site. With a competitive salary of £60,000, this role is ideal for a hands-on technical expert who thrives in both strategic leadership and day-to-day operational responsibilities. Following a substantial recruitment drive across our IT department, this position will involve leading more junior engineers while taking ownership of our IT infrastructure across multiple sites. You must be under an hour commute from Stoke-on-Trent.

You will be responsible for managing and optimising both on-premise and cloud-based environments, ensuring the resilience, security and scalability of our systems.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical proficiency, demonstrable experience in migrating services to cloud infrastructure—preferably Azure—and a solid grounding in on-premise technology. You will have a proactive mindset, strong mentoring abilities, and be capable of setting the direction for technology and infrastructure strategy within the business.

Key skills and experience required:

• Extensive experience with on-premise infrastructure environments
• Proven experience with cloud technologies, ideally Microsoft Azure
• Strong understanding of virtualisation technologies, ideally VMWare
• Experience with FortiGate firewalls and related security infrastructure
• Demonstrated ability to successfully migrate services and workloads to the cloud
• Hands-on approach to solving complex technical challenges
• Experience with Nimble storage solutions
• Previous experience mentoring or leading more junior IT staff
• Ability to develop and drive infrastructure strategy across multiple sites
• Strong communication and project management skills
