Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to take on the overall responsibility for managing, maintaining, and securing our IT infrastructure at Select Car Leasing. This role is central to our IT operations, requiring a hands-on technical expert to manage our on-premises and cloud environments, lead projects, and ensure the reliability and security of our systems. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, from network and server administration to user device management and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Management
- Provide strategic direction for internal IT infrastructure evolution and modernization.
- Oversee the design, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of all internal IT infrastructure components including servers, routers, firewalls, switches, wireless access points, software and end user devices.
- Proactively monitor network and server health, performance, and security, and resolve any issues promptly.
- Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery solutions for all critical systems and data.
Security & Compliance
- Take lead responsibility for the security of our IT infrastructure, including managing our antivirus solutions (e.g. Microsoft Defender for Endpoint) and implementing security best practices. Establish comprehensive security frameworks across all infrastructure components.
- Manage and maintain firewall rules, access controls, and VPNs to secure both our internal network and remote access.
- Implement proactive vulnerability management and regular security assessments.
- Ensure the IT infrastructure adheres to all relevant industry standards and data protection regulations.
Support & Mentoring
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for all IT infrastructure related issues.
- Document all systems, configurations, and processes to ensure knowledge transfer and consistency.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior IT support staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
Tools and Vendor Management
- Evaluate, select, and implement IT infrastructure tools and systems. Administer the Microsoft 365 environment and manage other key applications.
- Manage software licenses and ensure compliance with licensing terms.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
- Regularly review vendor performance and value provided to the organization.
Strategy & Leadership
- Lead IT infrastructure related projects from conception to completion, including infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and new system deployments.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and budget forecasting for future IT needs, identifying opportunities for technological improvement and efficiency.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for complex issues, acting as the escalation point for the IT support team.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, System Admin, or related roles.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, including managing many users and enforcing security policies like 2FA.
- Strong background in network management, including firewalls (specifically pfSense), switching, and ISP redundancy.
- Practical experience with device security tools like Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions, with a preference for Veeam or similar tools.
Skills and Qualifications
- Expertise in Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Intune, and Microsoft Defender.
- Proficiency in network administration, including VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and firewall management.
- Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies, specifically VMware ESXi.
- Familiarity with IT security principles, including phishing protection (Mimecast) and security awareness training (Phishing Tackle).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
