Job description

Overview

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will manage and participate in the delivery and support of IT infrastructure and IT infrastructure security for new and existing systems and solutions.

You will support team members in providing 2nd and 3rd line technical IM&T support (Desktop, Software, Infrastructure, and Telephony), maintaining a high level of customer service for all IM&T support queries.

Responsibilities

1. Proactively respond to security vulnerabilities identified by monitoring tools and perform remediation tasks.
2. Monitor and report on on-premise and cloud infrastructure systems to identify issues early.
3. Ensure RSSB infrastructure is secure and complies with Cyber Security standards.
4. Act as the escalation point for technical issues.
5. Administer and operate RSSB cloud and physical infrastructure environments.
6. Manage network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and virtualized environments.
7. Manage stakeholder and supplier relationships.
8. Analyze and recommend improvements to infrastructure, network, and system security.
9. Apply IT best practices to manage changes effectively while minimizing risks.
10. Oversee system and data backups, restores, and disaster recovery testing, ensuring data integrity and business continuity.
11. Maintain governance over endpoint device management solutions like Intune, impacting security.
12. Collaborate with the IM&T team and partners to incorporate security in solution evaluation, selection, and deployment.
13. Plan, communicate, and manage infrastructure changes with relevant teams and stakeholders.
14. Mentor colleagues and provide peer advice as needed.

Qualifications

• Qualifications/certifications in Computer Science, Microsoft, CompTIA, or relevant experience.
• Proficiency in managing Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, GPO, and SQL Server.
• Experience deploying patches and applications using InTune.
• Knowledge of Azure AD, Azure IaaS/PaaS administration and support.
• Experience with backup/recovery solutions and security assessments, audits, penetration testing, and security controls (PAM, SIEM, etc.).
• Endpoint security, content filtering, vulnerability scanning, and anti-malware experience.
• Familiarity with scripting languages like PowerShell.
• MS InTune device management skills.
• Understanding of vulnerabilities, exploits, and security best practices such as Cyber Essentials/ISO 27001 and ITIL processes.
• Effective communication, teamwork, accountability, customer focus, and decision-making skills.
