Job Introduction

We are looking for:

A Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support and manage the core IT infrastructure and Enterprise applications at our Hoddesdon site. This role also involves providing expert-level support and advice to other Pharmaron sites in the UK.

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is a key technical leader, managing and optimising the core IT infrastructure and enterprise applications at Pharmaron's Hoddesdon. This role encompasses diverse responsibilities, from systems management and stakeholder advisory to project management and compliance in a regulated GxP environment.

With expertise in virtualisation, cloud systems, automation, and IT security, you'll ensure the seamless operation of critical infrastructure while delivering innovative solutions that align with organisational goals. Some travel to other UK sites may be required.

Key roles and responsibilities:
  1. Administer server hardware, virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and backup solutions, ensuring system reliability and performance.
  2. Act as the IT liaison for enterprise application users and vendors, delivering expert-level support.
  3. Provide strategic IT guidance to stakeholders, ensuring technologies align with site activities and deliver maximum value.
  4. Monitor system security, support audits, and maintain compliance with GxP regulations.
  5. Lead or support new system deployments, validation activities, and enterprise application developments.
  6. Leverage scripting tools (e.g., PowerShell) to automate tasks and improve system efficiency.
  7. Manage user accounts, provide training, and promote self-sufficiency in IT systems.
  8. Maintain IT documentation and perform regular system maintenance following ITIL processes.
Requirements:

Essential:
  1. Degree or equivalent experience and certifications (e.g., Microsoft, VMware, AWS, CompTIA).
  2. Extensive experience in IT infrastructure systems, cloud/hybrid environments (Azure, AWS), and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell).
  3. Strong understanding of IT security and regulatory compliance requirements.
  4. Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues and optimise system performance.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
Desirable:
  1. Masters/PhD
  2. Experience with regulated environments (GxP) and enterprise applications.
  3. Database management and scripting capabilities.
