Senior Information Technology System Administrator, Chelmsford

I'm working with a leading University in the South of England who are looking for a Senior IT Systems Administrator (Windows).

The role involves managing and developing core IT services, with a focus on Windows Server Environments, Active Directory, Office 365, and backup/disaster recovery solutions. The position also requires providing technical leadership and driving service improvement within the IT infrastructure team.

Must Have Experience:

• Microsoft 365 (Office 365) - administration, support, and development
• Exchange / Exchange Online - proven experience migrating from on-premise Exchange to Exchange Online
• Backup systems and disaster recovery processes
• Experience working in or with the higher education sector

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
• Collaborative team player with a customer-focused mindset
• Degree in IT (or equivalent experience) or MCSE certification
• Hands-on experience with at least three of the following: Exchange, ADFS, Azure AD, Citrix, Office 365, patching, email security
• Familiarity with ITIL or similar structured service environments
