Job summary

Raytheon UK invites applications for a Senior Industrial Engineer to provide multi-site manufacturing support, engaging from early customer contact through volume production. You will drive innovation and deliver improvements across processes, equipment and layouts.

The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and simulation tools, strong analytical skills, and experience across assembly and test environments. A robust engineering background enables mentoring and effective customer interaction.

Qualifications

  • Degree in an engineering science (industrial, electronics, mechanical, manufacturing systems) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or simulation modelling tools.
  • Ability to apply statistical analysis, SPC, Six Sigma, and Lean principles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative solutions for new products or processes and contribute to factory capacity planning.
  • Support new projects, technologies or business opportunities.
  • Analyse manufacturing systems to identify improvement opportunities using IE tools and methods.
  • Determine equipment, facilities and support requirements for new products and processes.
  • Create detailed factory/line layouts using AutoCAD and plan costed implementations.
  • Optimise assembly lines through time and motion studies and ergonomics.
  • Produce technical reports and presentations to support projects.
  • Utilise simulation, value stream mapping and data analysis for current/future needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure producibility and smooth transfer to manufacturing.
  • Labor estimation for electronic, cable or mechanical assemblies.
  • Contribute to factory safety and work cell ergonomics.

Senior Industrial Engineer

We're looking for someone to provide Industrial Engineering support to Raytheon sites, functions and customers. The role requires a multi-skilled engineer to develop and drive innovation within manufacturing and wider functions from early customer engagement, through development to set-up and volume manufacture. The Industrial Engineer will provide technical, business and project management support for a variety of products or projects.

What you'll be doing
  • Develop innovative solutions for new products or processes plus contribute to strategic roadmaps focused on factory capacity and investments through infrastructure improvement and expansion proposals, and planning the integration of new products, technologies, and equipment that create a competitive advantage.
  • Support the development of new projects, technologies or businesses opportunities.
  • Analyse manufacturing system performance to evaluate and identify opportunities for improvement through Industrial Engineering tools, techniques and methods.
  • Analyse and determine equipment, facilities and support requirements for new products, equipment or processes.
  • Provide detailed factory and line layouts using AutoCAD plus support the planning, costing and implementation of new or changed area.
  • Optimisation of assembly lines using workflow analysis, time and motion study, ergonomics and human factors analysis.
  • Provide detailed technical reports, presentations and information to support projects.
  • Provide analysis of current or future requirements using simulation tools, value stream mapping, data analysis, PFMEA, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles etc.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design groups to ensure producibility of product and effective transition to manufacture.
  • Labour estimating for electronic, cable or mechanical assemblies.
  • Contribute to factory safety and work cell ergonomics.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
  • Degree in an engineering science e.g. Industrial Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience
  • PC literate mainly Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & MS Project.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and/or simulation modelling tools.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and statistical analysis, SPC, modelling, queuing theory, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.
  • Ability to represent Raytheon at all levels for internal and external customers.
  • Strong understanding of the key cost drivers in the set-up, development or support of projects, products and the manufacturing process.
Desirable
  • Significant Industrial Engineering experience and extensive knowledge of Industrial Engineering tools, techniques and methods.
  • Experience of developing new process, areas or expansion including planning, costing and implementation.
  • Ability to create detailed information quickly and present effectively at customer or various management levels.
  • Knowledge of SMT, unit and box build assembly processes plus site facilitation, supply chain requirements and material handling.
  • Ability to mentor or lead other engineers or projects with extensive industrial engineering knowledge.
  • Knowledge of simulation tools such as Witness or similar.
