Job Description

As the Senior Industrial Applications Engineer, you will develop and manage the technical offerings for electrical architecture and solutions for industrial and energy infrastructure projects. Covering the UK and Northern Europe P&L solutions and services, you will provide direct customer-facing technical support during the bid process through to negotiation and order close-out. You will also support conference technical presentations and paper readouts.

In this role, you will focus on:

  • Interpreting customer requirements with accuracy, quality, and timeliness to meet customer needs and business goals.
  • Analyzing market trends for new solution positioning.
  • Collaborating with execution teams to optimize offerings and design tools.
  • Developing supplier specifications and assisting with cost reduction initiatives to secure competitive pricing.
  • Managing technical processes and securing technical design approvals through risk reviews.
  • Providing technical support during bid and risk processes.
  • Producing comprehensive technical design specifications.
  • Supporting sales managers in customer meetings and negotiations.
  • Crafting technical proposals that showcase value propositions, including service and after-sales.
  • Presenting to internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, to showcase our offerings' value.
  • Collaborating on negotiation strategies with sales and leadership teams.
  • Helping develop the early- and mid-career technical team.
  • Traveling to customer meetings domestically and overseas (occasionally, usually up to a week).

We are looking for a committed and professional individual with:

  • A degree in electrical engineering or appropriate apprenticeship background.
  • Understanding of variable frequency converters and rotating machines (induction motors and generators, synchronous machines).
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical power systems and control systems.
  • Experience in capturing and interpreting customer requirements daily.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present effectively.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Power Factory, ETAP, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and an enthusiastic collaborative approach.
  • A thorough, proactive work approach with a sense of urgency to deliver quality on time.

  • Valid UK driver’s license.
