Buro Happold is seeking a Senior Inclusive Environments Consultant to help shape spaces for diverse users. You will embed inclusive thinking from strategy through detailed design across workplaces, education, culture, transport, and urban developments in the UK and beyond.
The role offers hybrid working across multiple UK locations and opportunities to lead workstreams, influence design decisions and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
Shape more inclusive places for everyone. Join Buro Happold as a Senior Inclusive Environments Consultant.
This person can be based in any of our UK locations, on a hybrid working model.
At Buro Happold, we believe the best places are designed around the people who use them. Our Inclusive Environments team brings together accessibility, inclusive design, neuroinclusion, sensory design, stakeholder engagement and user experience to help create environments that work for the widest possible range of people.
We’re looking for a Senior Inclusive Environments Consultant to join our growing specialist team. This is an opportunity to work on meaningful projects across the built environment, collaborating with architects, engineers, designers and clients to challenge barriers, influence design and create places that are genuinely inclusive.
We’re deliberately flexible on level and welcome people from a range of professional backgrounds. What matters most is your passion for inclusive design, your ability to bring people and perspectives into the design process, and your desire to make a tangible difference through your work.
As a Senior Inclusive Environments Consultant, you’ll work across a diverse portfolio of projects, helping clients and design teams embed inclusive thinking from strategy through to detailed design.
Our work spans workplaces, education, culture, transport, sport, healthcare and major urban developments, with projects across the UK and internationally. You could be undertaking accessibility audits one day, facilitating stakeholder engagement the next, and working alongside a multidisciplinary design team to develop practical inclusive design solutions.
Depending on your experience, you’ll have the opportunity to support senior colleagues on complex projects, lead defined workstreams, or take responsibility for project delivery and client relationships.
This is a role where your expertise can directly influence how people experience the built environment.
We’re more interested in finding the right person than a perfect CV. You may have a background in inclusive design, accessibility, architecture, engineering, planning, engagement, research or another related built environment discipline.

Our exceptional portfolio of projects is the result of the diversity of thought, identities, backgrounds and experiences that shape us. Appreciating each other’s differences is key, we want employees to feel they don’t have to mask elements of their identity to thrive.
We are working to change the lack of representation of marginalised groups in the built environment and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who feels they are underrepresented in the industry. We have much to learn from one another. Embracing difference allows us to develop the most innovative and elegant solutions.
Please let us know if there are any adjustments we could make to the application process to make it easier and more comfortable for you.
