Senior Improvement Analyst - Regional Learning & Improvement Networks

We are currently recruiting a Senior Improvement Analyst to join our Regional Learning & Improvement Networks team.

In this role, you will work as part of a dynamic team to provide day-to-day analytical support and improvement insight for the three East of England Learning & Improvement Networks.

Using your extensive knowledge of NHS data and business processes, technical and data visualisation skills, alongside improvement expertise; you will help drive improvement in the care and outcomes for patients across elective, UEC and mental healthcare services.in the East of England

You will be expected to work on-site at least one day per week and be available to start within four weeks of receiving a conditional offer, if selected. Main duties of the job

You will use your analytical and improvement experience to collate and triangulate existing Elective, UEC and mental health datasets and provide insight commentary that highlights unwarranted variation and opportunities to improve care. Experience in using SPC and data for improvement is essential. This role will require the post holder to build and manage collaborative relationships across the health system, including internal and external teams as well as operational and clinical experts to ensure analyses meet their needs.

Additionally project management skills and the ability to deliver a portfolio of projects, manage competing priorities and tight deadlines and work autonomously are required.

We are working in partnership with East of England Learning & Improvement Networks who are part of the NHSE Clinical & Operational Excellence Programme which was established in September 2024.

The Networks have been designed for operational and clinical leaders working in Elective Care, Urgent and Emergency Care and Mental Health and incorporate those working in primary and community care and the ambulance service.

The LINs provide an enabling infrastructure that facilitates collaboration and the sharing of best practice between peers using an improvement approach. The primary aim of the Networks is to support and accelerate those improvement initiatives that are producing demonstrable improvement in patient flow. Key activities include online networks, face-to-face learning events, and the integration of data-driven insights using comparative data for improvement.

Qualifications / Training
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject such as Maths, Statistics, Operational Research or a related quantitative or analytical discipline.
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Comprehensive experience of project principles techniques and tools such as Prince 2, Managing Successful Projects or Agile
Skills
  • Experience in using a range of statistical software such as R and SQL
  • Technical skills in data management, business intelligence and analytics - including data modelling, data visualisation (e.g. Tableau and PowerBi)
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information, pre-empt and evaluate issues, and recommend and appropriate course of action to address the issues.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands
  • Clear communicator with excellent writing, report writing and presentation skills; capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately for diverse audiences
  • Experience in project management and programme planning
  • Skills in nurturing key relationships and maintaining networks.
Knowledge
  • Previous experience in a similar role in the NHS
  • Experience with relevant data sets and analysis software including Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrate an understanding of datasets and data sources including the quality and reliability of the data
  • Experience of triangulating data from different sources and demonstrate an appreciation of the differences that might occur in large datasets. Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring the performance of health services.
  • Experience in communications and stakeholder management. Comprehensive knowledge of health information systems
  • A good understanding of the health and social care environment and roles and responsibilities within it.
