Senior ICT Consultant

Turn IT On is currently seeking an experienced ICT Consultant/Senior ICT Technician who is motivated and enthusiastic about technology. The ideal candidate should have a natural flair for technology, a strong willingness to learn, and a passion for providing exceptional service to our customers. Join an expanding team supporting schools in and around Buckinghamshire.

This role involves supporting a Trust of primary schools where you will act as the liaison between your schools and turn IT on. You will ensure they are informed about our products and services, manage customer accounts, and maintain IT hardware and software across school sites to improve ICT provision and support effective teaching and learning through ICT solutions.

To be suitable, you should have a passionate interest in IT, a solid technical background, and be self-driven and enthusiastic about customer service. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential for liaising regularly with school senior management. Our ideal candidate has at least 2-3 years of experience in a Senior ICT Technician or 2nd/3rd support role in the education sector, though this is not essential. You should be able to work independently, troubleshoot effectively, and proactively identify ways to enhance team services.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Handle 2nd/3rd line issues, respond to ICT emergencies & school complaints.
  2. Resolve and manage technical issues impacting school operations by providing robust solutions.
  3. Provide internal network support.
  4. Support and mentor 1st/2nd support roles.
  5. Enforce and monitor compliance with school policies.
  6. Conduct internal staff training.
  7. Lead installation or repair of computers with standard applications and networking software, diagnosing and solving operational problems.
  8. Perform technical duties related to the computer network and desktop services, including upgrades and installations of desktops, iPads, printers, telephones, scanners, projectors, PA equipment, AV lecterns, and hardware.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Operating Systems
  • Virtualisation Technologies - particularly HyperV
  • Cloud Technologies - Office365/Azure
  • Experience leading server and network installations
  • Ability to make proactive decisions during ICT emergencies
  • Exceptional customer service and proactive communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to work independently with effective planning and organization

The role is full-time, full-year, and the successful candidate will undergo enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks. Due to school locations, a driving license and own vehicle are required. We offer a salary of GBP30,000 - GBP35,000, negotiable for the right candidate.
