Job summary

Infinity Quest is seeking a highly experienced Senior DataStage/ETL Developer in the United Kingdom to design, develop, and manage enterprise-grade data integration pipelines. You will lead end-to-end ETL/ELT workflows, optimize data warehouses, and mentor junior developers.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years with IBM InfoSphere DataStage, strong SQL capabilities, and a solid understanding of data platforms and architectures.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on DataStage ETL development.
• Expert SQL/PLSQL proficiency.
• Experience with data warehousing concepts.
• Unix/Linux shell scripting ability.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into scalable, end-to-end technical ETL designs and robust data workflows.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy parallel and server jobs using IBM DataStage Designer, utilizing advanced stages such as Lookup, Join, Merge, Transformer, and Aggregator.
• Build and manage complex job sequences, execution loops, custom error-handling mechanisms, and standard job routines.
• Troubleshoot production bottlenecks and optimise long-running ETL processes, memory allocations, partition strategies, and SQL queries.
• Create data mappings, target schema structures, and validate complex data logic across databases such as Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, and DB2.
• Write advanced Unix/Linux shell scripts for automated file handling, pre/post-job processing, and parameter configuration.
• Oversee enterprise job schedulers such as Control-M, Autosys, or Tivoli to manage dependencies and production runtime.
• Partner with Data Architects, Business Analysts, and QA teams to maintain data quality standards.
• Provide guidance and code reviews for junior team members.
