Job summary

D R Newitt & Associates is seeking a Senior Hygiene Supervisor for a leading FMCG food manufacturer in the UK. The role focuses on delivering robust hygiene controls across a highly automated site and developing the hygiene team to ensure consistent cleaning standards and audit readiness.

The successful candidate will lead the site hygiene programme, drive continuous improvement, monitor KPIs, and work closely with production, engineering and quality to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Must have leadership experience in a food manufacturing hygiene role.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, COSHH, allergen controls and BRCGS.
• Able to analyse trends and implement corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and own the site hygiene programme, including cleaning standards and schedules.
• Ensure hygiene activities meet GMP, HACCP, COSHH and allergen requirements.
• Coach and develop hygiene team to maintain safe cleaning standards.
• Set hygiene KPIs and monitor via inspections, trend analysis, and audit outcomes.
• Coordinate with production and maintenance to ensure equipment is properly cleaned.
• Manage resourcing and engage with 3rd party agency providers as needed.
• Lead root cause investigations for hygiene failures and customer or regulator inspections.
• Maintain audit readiness and support external inspections.
• Promote a strong food safety and health and safety culture.

A leading FMCG Food Manufacturer is currently looking for a Senir Hygiene Supervisor to develop quicly to a Hygiene Manager role. This role will need former leadership experience within a food manufacturing environment and be used to deputising for a Hygiene Manager. The role is responsible for delivering effective hygiene controls across a highly automated manufacturing operation while driving continuous improvement, audit readiness, and operational efficiency.

Senior Hygiene Supervisor responsibilities

• Lead and own the site hygiene programme, including cleaning standards, schedules, work instructions, validation, and verification activities.
• Ensure all hygiene activities support compliance with GMP, HACCP, COSHH, allergen control, BRCGS expectations, and site food safety requirements.
• Lead, coach, and develop the hygiene team, including QA's, supervisors and operators, to deliver safe and effective cleaning standards.
• Set hygiene KPIs and monitor performance through inspections, trend analysis, swabbing results, audit outcomes, downtime, and non-conformance data.
• Work closely with production, engineering, technical, and quality teams to ensure automated lines, conveyors, fillers, packers, robotics, and associated equipment are cleaned safely and effectively.
• Own resourcing schedule and engage with 3rd Party agency providers as required.
• Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for hygiene failures, environmental results, pest issues, audit findings, and customer complaints where relevant.
• Ensure the site remains audit ready and support customer, third-party, and regulatory inspections.
• Promote a strong food safety and health and safety culture across the site.

You will be a Senior Hygiene Supervisor used to leading a Food Manufacturing facility. You will need to be able to analyse trends, identify risk, and implement effective corrective actions and be a confident communicator who can influence cross-functional teams.
