Job summary

GE Vernova Grid Solutions in the UK is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and detailing of HV substations 400kV to 33kV, focusing on steel structures, gantries, and foundations, ensuring safety and compliance.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver optimized structural solutions for complex substations, manage projects, mentor engineers, and uphold QA/QC standards across feasibility to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Education: a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related).
• Professional registration: CEng advantageous but not mandatory.
• Experience: minimum 5+ years in structural design, with HV transmission/utility sector experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from feasibility through detailed design, construction and commissioning.
• Provide leadership, mentorship and technical guidance to a team of engineers and designers.
• Own or oversee QA/QC strategy, design reviews, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
