Job summary

METLEN Energy & Metals is seeking an HV Engineer based in Newcastle to join the Grid & Digital Solutions department within the Thermal Power & HVDC division. You will lead end-to-end HV plant and MV design packages and provide technical governance across interfaces.

Applicants should have a degree in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years in HV/MV engineering, with UK substation experience (132kV–400kV) and strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate multi-discipline teams and

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in HV/MV engineering within transmission/substation environments.
Strong UK experience in primary substation design (132kV–400kV) and MV systems (11kV–33kV).
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design coordination and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end delivery of primary HV plant and MV design packages from concept to construction.
Provide technical governance by reviewing and approving designs for accuracy and constructability.
Act as discipline lead for Primary Plant and MV engineering and coordinate with other engineering teams.
Manage interfaces between HV primary, HV secondary (P&C) and MV systems ensuring design consistency.
Interface with clients and stakeholders, representing the contractor as SME in primary plant design.
Support procurement activities including technical specifications and bid evaluation.
Coordinate with consortium partners, subcontractors and suppliers for timely design delivery.
Travel to project sites, supplier facilities, and client or partner offices as required.
