OCU Group seeks a Senior Primary Design Engineer to own safety-critical HV/EHV primary plant designs across UK networks. You will lead design from feasibility to detailed stages, coordinating with civil, protection and control, earthing and cable teams.

Liaising with DNO authorities and clients, you will deliver compliant, buildable designs and drive technical approvals. 11kV–132kV work includes substations and reinforcements.

Formación

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with CEng status or working toward chartership.
• Significant experience delivering HV/EHV primary electrical designs for UK projects, ideally in a DNO environment.
• Strong knowledge of primary plant design components and standards (GIS, AIS, transformers, switchgear, busbars, clearances, insulation coordination).
• Proven ability to produce and review layouts, single-line diagrams, design reports and schedules with ENA/BS/IEC awareness.
• Excellent technical communication and stakeholder management with a safety-first mindset.

Responsabilidades

• Lead development, review and assurance of HV and EHV primary electrical designs in line with DNO standards and industry practices.
• Own primary layouts, single-line diagrams, general arrangements, equipment schedules and interface drawings.
• Deliver safe, compliant and buildable designs addressing operational and fault-condition requirements.
• Perform design assessments: fault levels, equipment ratings, clearances and insulation coordination.
• Coordinate with DNO authorities, clients and project teams to secure approvals and handle design comments.
• Ensure cross-discipline integration with civil, protection & control, earthing and cable teams.
• Support procurement and construction with technical reviews and site attendance when required.
• Maintain governance and compliance with regulations, CDM, and continuous improvement.
