Job summary

Medlock Partners in Manchester is seeking an experienced Senior HR Advisor for a 9‑month fixed term contract. The role offers hybrid working (1 day onsite, 4 days work from home) with an option of 28 or 35 hours per week and an immediate start.

You will partner with the Head of People and senior leaders to lead the people aspects of a major organisational change programme, delivering fair, compliant change, TUPE activity and strong employee wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience delivering complex organisational change programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law in change scenarios.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading employee consultation processes (redundancy/redeployment).

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day people aspects of a major change programme.
  • Provide trusted advice to leaders, managers, and employees.
  • Coordinate consultation activities, ensuring fairness and compliance.
  • Manage recruitment, redeployment, and transitions within new structures.
  • Support TUPE activities and employee transfers.
  • Advise on employee relations matters arising from change.
  • Promote wellbeing, engagement, and effective communication during change.
  • Build relationships with senior leaders, managers, and trade union reps.
  • Provide workforce insights and regular governance reporting.
  • Assist wider People Team with generalist HR activity.

Salary up to £40,000 plus competitive benefits package including 41 days annual leave (including statutory holidays) and enhanced employer pension contribution (up to 10% matched)

My client is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to play a key role in delivering a significant organisational change programme across multiple business areas.

Working closely with the Head of People and senior leaders, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of the people elements of the programme, ensuring change is managed effectively, compassionately and in accordance with employment legislation and organisational policies.

This is a high-impact role requiring strong organisational change, employee relations and stakeholder management expertise. You will provide trusted advice to leaders, managers and employees throughout the change process, helping to ensure that organisational change is delivered fairly, transparently and with employee wellbeing at its heart.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior HR Advisor:
  • Lead and coordinate the people aspects of a significant organisational change programme across multiple business areas.
  • Act as the key People contact for managers and employees throughout the change process, providing expert advice, guidance and support.
  • Lead and coordinate consultation activity, ensuring processes are fair, transparent, legally compliant and consistent with organisational policies.
  • Manage the employee-related aspects of organisational redesign, including recruitment, redeployment, selection and transition into new structures.
  • Coordinate and support TUPE activities, ensuring legislative requirements are met and employee transfers are managed effectively.
  • Provide expert advice on employee relations matters arising from organisational change, including redundancy, redeployment and consultation.
  • Work closely with managers to support employee wellbeing, engagement, communication and effective transition throughout periods of change.
  • Build strong and constructive relationships with senior leaders, managers, employees and trade union representatives.
  • Identify and monitor people-related risks, maintaining accurate documentation and providing regular updates, workforce insights and reporting to support programme governance and decision-making.
  • Support the wider People Team with generalist HR and employee relations activity as required, helping to maintain a high-quality service during periods of increased demand.
Key requirements for the Senior HR Advisor:
  • You will be an experienced HR/People professional with a strong track record of supporting and delivering complex organisational change programmes.
  • You must have significant experience of managing the people aspects of organisational change, restructuring or organisational redesign.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and its practical application within organisational change.
  • It is essential that you are CIPD Level 5 qualified and or you have equivalent experience.
  • Experience of leading or supporting formal employee consultation processes, including redundancy and redeployment.
  • Practical experience of TUPE and employee transition activity.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience of working effectively with senior leaders, managers, employees and trade union or employee representatives.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to explain complex or sensitive issues clearly and compassionately.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, risks and deadlines within a complex programme environment.
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach, combined with sound professional judgement and a strong understanding of confidentiality and employee wellbeing.
  • It is desirable if you have experience working within a similar role within a not-for-profit, public sector or highly regulated organisation.
