Job description

An oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in the UK is seeking a Senior HSE Advisor to join their team in Aberdeen on a temporary PAYE contract basis. This is a key role in supporting health and safety with a strong focus on occupational health, ensuring legal compliance and driving improvements in occupational health plans.

The successful candidate will work from the company’s central Aberdeen office, with travel offshore as required. A non-contractual hybrid working arrangement is currently in place, requiring three core days in the office with the remaining two days worked either from home or the office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acting as an ambassador for HSE standards, promoting a proactive safety culture through site visits and visible leadership.
  • Providing HSE support to operational assets, including training, incident investigation, audits, and advice on best practice.
  • Leading and supporting occupational health and industrial hygiene programmes, including health risk assessments, exposure monitoring, medical surveillance coordination, and health promotion campaigns.
  • Supporting development, delivery, and monitoring of HSE and occupational health improvement plans.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety cases, regulations, and health risk assessments across operations.
  • Contributing to emergency response arrangements, including occupational health considerations.
  • Engaging with contractors, supply chain partners, and regulators to maintain high standards of HSE and occupational health performance.
  • Participating in assurance activities and actively monitor compliance systems.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Recognised qualifications or demonstrable experience in occupational health/industrial hygiene management.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Professional membership of IOSH, BOHS, or equivalent.
  • NEBOSH diploma, degree, or equivalent.
  • Offshore certifications (BOSIET, MIST, Offshore Medical, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health, industrial hygiene, risk management, compliance, and emergency response.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to develop pragmatic solutions.
