Job description

Senior HSE Advisor – EV
Permanent/Full time
Coventry/hybrid

Closing date – 1st May 2025

Who we are:

We’re committed to making a difference by generating dispatchable, renewable power and creating stable energy in an uncertain world. Building on our heritage, we aim to become the global leader in sustainable biomass and carbon removals.

You’ll join our team of practical doers, future thinkers, and business champions. We’re working towards a zero-carbon, lower-cost energy future for all, and actively decarbonising the planet for future generations.

About the role:

At Drax, safety is our top priority – we all contribute to our One Safe Drax vision by caring for ourselves, our assets, our environment, and our communities.

As a Senior HSE Advisor, you will be part of our HSE team within the Commercial Business Unit, reporting to the HSE Manager – Commercial. Your focus will be on driving health, safety, and environmental improvements specifically within our EV department.

You will champion our OneSafeDrax vision, promoting cultural change in HSE performance, risk management, compliance controls, and behaviours across the EV department, including electric vehicle charge-point installation and construction activities.

With your experience with CDM Regulations and a hands-on approach, you will design, deliver, and monitor innovative HSE programs and improvements to ensure compliance and manage risks across our UK construction projects, leading a small team of HSE advisors.

Who we’re looking for:

To succeed in this role, ideally:

  • You are well-organized and adaptable, capable of responding to the evolving needs of a growing business. You develop practical, logical solutions that are effectively embedded.
  • You have strong stakeholder management skills, are an effective communicator, and can advise all levels of the organization.
  • You hold a Level 6 HSE qualification, such as a NEBOSH Diploma (or are working towards it), and have a detailed understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • You have experience managing a team.
  • You are willing and able to travel regularly across the UK to EV construction sites and other Drax locations.

Rewards and benefits:

We offer a comprehensive benefits package to support your well-being and lifestyle, including:

  • A discretionary bonus based on company performance
  • Private Healthcare with Vitality
  • SAYE (Sharesave): discretionary scheme from time to time
  • Personal accident cover
  • Group personal pension plan, with company contributions up to 10%
  • 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays
  • Reimbursement for professional membership fees

At Drax, your purpose aligns with your career. We’re dedicated to making a tangible impact on the climate challenge and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Learn more about our approach here.
