Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced HS&E leader to provide SME advice and leadership across the organisation and supply chain. The role focuses on creating scalable HS&E arrangements, conducting risk-based assurance activities, and supporting ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification processes.

You will lead specialist safety assessments (HAZOP/HAZID), establish data collection and validation processes, and drive continuous HS&E improvement while engaging with engineering, design, and operations

Qualifications

• Experience and expertise in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental protection.
• Ability to provide SME advice, guidance, support, and leadership across an organisation and its supply chain.
• Ability to create, implement, and develop HS&E arrangements.
• Experience performing risk-based assurance activities.
• Knowledge of SMS and EMS frameworks.
• Experience supporting ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 external certification assurance.
• Ability to deliver business improvement plans.
• Ability to support engineering, design, and operational functions.
• Experience conducting HAZOPs/HAZIDs.
• Ability to establish data requirements, collect/validate data, and present findings.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME advice, guidance, and leadership in HS&E across the organisation and supply chain.
• Create, implement, and develop scalable HS&E arrangements.
• Lead risk-based assurance activities for SMS/EMS.
• Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification activities.
• Deliver business improvement plans and drive HS&E excellence.
• Advise engineering, design, and operations on duties and best practices.
• Conduct specialist safety assessments (HAZOP/HAZID).
• Establish data collection arrangements, validate data, and drive improvements.
• Investigate incidents, track trends to closure, and conduct root-cause analyses.
• Support regulatory intervention sessions and supplier evaluations.

Job description

• Provide SME advice, guidance, support, and leadership in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental protection across the organisation and supply chain
• Create, implement, and develop scalable HS&E arrangements
• Perform risk-based assurance activities for the Safety Management System and Environmental Management System
• Lead and promote arrangements during ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification and customer due-diligence activities
• Deliver agreed business improvement plans
• Advise engineering, design, and operational functions on duties, best practice, and industry expectations
• Conduct specialist safety assessments including HAZOPs and HAZIDs
• Establish data collection arrangements, validate data, and present improvement actions
• Respond to incidents, track trends and actions through to closure, and investigate root causes
• Support regulatory intervention sessions
• Support development of a health and safety culture and HS&E excellence
• Set and evaluate suppliers’ HS&E arrangements
• Support current and future facilities and supply-chain partnerships
• Report via the HS&E Manager and collaborate with other functions

Requirements

• Experience performing risk-based assurance activities
• Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
• Experience supporting ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 external certification assurance activities
• Ability to deliver business improvement plans
• Ability to support engineering, design, and operational functions
• Experience conducting specialist safety assessments such as HAZOPs and HAZIDs
• Ability to identify data requirements, establish data collection arrangements, validate data, and present findings with improvement actions
• Experience responding to incidents, tracking trends and actions to closure, and conducting root-cause investigationsAbility to support regulatory intervention sessions
• Ability to develop a health and safety culture and drive HS&E excellence
• Experience setting and evaluating suppliers’ HS&E arrangements
• Competency-based interview
• May be asked to provide evidence of document management capability
• BPSS clearance required
• Satisfactory DBS check required
• Satisfactory basic financial probity check required
