Linum Consult’s client is a specialist subsidiary of an international main contractor and a global leader in construction technologies, employing over 7,000 people across more than 30 countries. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior HR Manager to be based in London, with frequent travel to satellite offices around the UK, and supporting a headcount of approximately 180 employees.

Responsibilities

The Senior HR Manager will lead the development, implementation, and delivery of the company’s People Strategy, ensuring the attraction, development, and retention of top talent to meet business needs. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and as part of the Senior Leadership Team, the Senior HR Manager will collaborate with senior colleagues and the Board to align HR initiatives with the business plan.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with senior managers to create detailed job descriptions and person specifications.
  • Working with the Senior Department Managers to develop a robust resourcing strategy, ensuring a continuous pipeline of skilled talent.
  • Leveraging various channels and networks to attract high-quality talent and enhancing employer branding.
  • Implementing an effective recruitment tracking system, ensuring compliance with EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) policies and identifying optimal recruitment methods.
  • Developing and coordinating a comprehensive competency management and training strategy.
  • Providing regular progress reports on recruitment and resourcing initiatives.
  • Advising and supporting onsite managers in HR-related matters, including employee relations and performance management.
  • Managing payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Overseeing benefits administration and pension schemes.
  • Leading initiatives to enhance employee wellbeing and mental health support programs.

The Person

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong strategic and operational HR expertise, along with leadership skills to drive a high-performance culture.

Key qualifications and skills include:

  • A master’s in Human Resource Management or CIPD Level 7 qualification (desirable).
  • Ideally have previous experience working for large civil engineering or construction companies
  • Strong knowledge of HR procedures and best practices gained from a generalist HR role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and conducting employee relations meetings.
  • Excellent understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience in administering payroll, pensions, and benefits.
  • Competence in managing wellbeing and mental health initiatives.
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, including experience in managing and mentoring teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and proofreading skills.
  • Fluency in English and eligibility to live and work in the UK.
