Job summary

Phoenix Learning & Care Group is seeking an experienced Senior HR Advisor to join the People Services Team. The role is heavily employee relations focused, dealing with complex cases across care and education settings, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding and confidentiality.

The role is hybrid, based from Tiverton or Bristol, with travel across South Wales, Bristol, Newbury, Birmingham and Manchester. You will support managers, drive fair processes and contribute to trauma-informed people

Qualifications

• CIPD qualification or equivalent HR experience.
• Strong generalist HR experience with high-volume ER caseloads.
• Solid knowledge of employment law, fair process and HR policy application.
• Ability to advise, support and challenge managers and leaders, including difficult decisions.
• Experience working in multi-site environments, ideally in care or education sectors.
• Understanding of how recruitment, onboarding and retention relate to ER and workforce stability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with resilience and attention to detail.
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, health and wellbeing in line with company values.

Responsibilities

• Manage a busy employee relations caseload including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance cases.
• Support managers with absence management and probation processes and return-to-work planning.
• Collaborate with HR Manager and second Senior HR Advisor to deliver a high-quality HR service.
• Coach managers through sensitive processes and ensure trauma-informed approaches.
• Prepare documentation and referrals (occupational health, DBS) with factual and timely handling.
• Contribute to policy updates and process improvements for fair HR practice.
• Travel as required across South Wales, Bristol, Newbury and other regions for site visits.
