Role Overview:

As a Senior HR Advisor, you will be at the heart of the organisation. Working within the Council’s HR team, you will act as a relationship manager with schools and uphold and represent our missions, values, and behaviours, to support the delivery of outstanding education across our borough.

You will manage case work and provide expert advice on all aspects of people management. You will develop outstanding working relationships with senior leaders and colleagues and proactively support them with professional HR advice, information and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional advice and research on a range of issues including pay rates, reward systems e.g. Honoraria, TUPE transfers, recruitment and retention issues, implementation of new structures.
  • Provide professional advice on casework e.g. Disciplinary, Capability, Grievance, Redundancy, Medical Incapacity.
  • Provide caseworker support at the dismissal and appeal stages of the Disciplinary, Capability and Redundancy Procedures.
  • Provide assist to legal advisers in preparing Employment Tribunals cases, and casework support on grievances at the Member appeal stage.
  • Ensure there is a clear understanding of schools’ business strategies and the operational performance, and that HR support is tailored to meet client needs.

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • CIPD Membership
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an HR advisory role
  • Good working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
