An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior HR Advisor within an independent Human Resource Support Specialist based in Birmingham in the West Midlands. This is a full-time role based in our clients’ Sutton Coldfield office.

About the role
Our client is looking for an excellent HR Advisor who will be the Senior/Team Leader for our advice team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, solution focused and will understand how internal processes, collaborative working and pragmatic advice combine to deliver an excellent HR Service to their clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a small team of administrators and junior advisors in the delivery of a high-quality HR advice service to their clients
- Be a point of contact for queries received in the office, either HR related or general enquiries.
- Managing an active and ever-changing employee relations caseload
- Provide senior support to Advisors and Administrators regarding queries
- Administer HR documents such as policies and procedures, recruitment administration, contracts of employment, producing letters relating to formal proceedings and general correspondence
- Offer support and advice to our clients in managing sickness absence and/or holding first stage formal/informal meetings. This may include holding meetings on behalf of our clients and producing the necessary paperwork
- Conduct investigations into grievances, disciplinary or capability cases and produce reports and recommendations for next steps
- Attendance at hearings may be required to present investigation findings or provide advice to panel members on process
- Ensure all arrangements for formal hearings/proceedings are completed, including room planning, scheduling and sending invites, producing packs and letters
- Ensure that relevant HR databases, client records, systems or processes are set up and maintained with accurate information and effective procedures
- Although predominantly office based, there will be a requirement to support clients on site, so must be prepared to travel locally
- Provide general office administration support as required by the business to ensure day to day operations run smoothly
Supervisory responsibilities
- Coach, mentor and develop staff including overseeing new starters
- Provide oversight and direction to your team
- Responsibility for managing and recording attendance including timekeeping, sickness absence and annual leave
- Ensure security of all personal or sensitive company data at all times
About you
To be successful for the role of Senior HR Advisor, you must have / be:
- Maths and English GCSE
- Experience as a HR advisor and administrator
- Expert user of Microsoft Office, specifically needing Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
- Proven experience of interpreting policy and working with business areas to ensure effective ER case resolution
- Experience of managing ER issues and advising, coaching and influencing managers up to and including senior managers
- Strong working knowledge of employment law issues
- Highly personable with excellent verbal communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and to multi-task effectively
- Flexible working approach
About the rewards
For the role of Senior HR Advisor, you will work 37.5 hours per week, based in the office, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and there is on offer a salary of £28,000 to £30,000 per annum.
