An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior HR Advisor within an independent Human Resource Support Specialist based in Birmingham in the West Midlands. This is a full-time role based in our clients’ Sutton Coldfield office.

About the role

Our client is looking for an excellent HR Advisor who will be the Senior/Team Leader for our advice team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, solution-focused, and will understand how internal processes, collaborative working, and pragmatic advice combine to deliver an excellent HR Service to their clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a small team of administrators and junior advisors in the delivery of a high-quality HR advice service to their clients
  • Be a point of contact for queries received in the office, either HR related or general enquiries.
  • Manage an active and ever-changing employee relations caseload
  • Provide senior support to Advisors and Administrators regarding queries
  • Administer HR documents such as policies and procedures, recruitment administration, contracts of employment, producing letters relating to formal proceedings and general correspondence
  • Offer support and advice to clients in managing sickness absence and/or holding formal/informal meetings, including attending meetings and producing necessary paperwork
  • Conduct investigations into grievances, disciplinary, or capability cases and produce reports and recommendations
  • Attend hearings to present investigation findings or advise panel members on process
  • Ensure arrangements for formal hearings are completed, including scheduling and communication
  • Maintain HR databases and client records with accurate information
  • Support clients on-site as needed, with willingness to travel locally
  • Provide general office administration support to ensure smooth operations
Supervisory responsibilities
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new starters
  • Provide oversight and direction to your team
  • Manage and record attendance, sickness, and leave
  • Ensure the security of all personal and sensitive data
About you

To be successful, you must have / be:

  • Maths and English GCSE
  • Experience as a HR advisor and administrator
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Experience interpreting policy and resolving ER cases effectively
  • Experience managing ER issues and advising managers up to senior levels
  • Strong knowledge of employment law
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and multitask
  • Flexible working approach
About the rewards

The role offers a 37.5-hour workweek, based in the office, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with a salary of £28,000 to £30,000 per annum.
