Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced HPC Engineer to support and evolve Linux-based high-performance computing environments in the UK. You will be a key contributor in maintaining and expanding our HPC infrastructure, with a focus on reliability, security, and performance.

The role requires a technical degree, 3+ years of Linux experience, and willingness to learn Slurm, xCAT, and Ansible. On-site work five days a week and eligibility for UK security clearance are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• At least 3 years' experience on Linux IT systems.
• Knowledge of Linux system administration.
• Familiarity with at least one scripting language (Bash, Python).
• Interest in HPC and willingness to learn Slurm, xCAT, and Ansible.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• UK National status due to role/client requirement.
• Ability to obtain UK SV security clearance.
• On-site work five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing support for RHEL Linux systems and applications.
• Diagnose and repair hardware and software faults.
• Troubleshoot OS and application issues; implement fixes or guide users.
• Investigate and implement change requests (new software/configs).
• Ensure HPC workloads do not pose security threats.
• Monitor system performance and generate reports using scripts.
• Write/update end-user and admin documentation.
• Assist in design/implementation of new HPC systems.
