Job summary

5 Star Recruitment is seeking a Housing Standards Team Leader to oversee the private sector housing standards and licensing services in the Charnwood area. You will manage the Housing Standards Team, ensure compliance with policies, and deliver high-quality services to tenants, landlords and agents.

The role requires significant housing standards experience, leadership skills, and a commitment to equality and partnership working. Hybrid working with on-site inspections is available.

Qualifications

• Level 4 certificate or equivalent in Housing, Environmental Health or related subject.
• Certified member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
• Certificate in Housing Health and Safety Rating System competency or demonstrable experience identified within the section below.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day running of the Housing Standards service, including complaints.
• Lead Housing Standards Team with training, guidance, coaching and mentoring.
• Manage private sector housing licensing schemes including mandatory, selective and additional licensing.
• Oversee the Private Sector Housing Licensing Team with development and cross-team collaboration.
• Ensure service standards and performance targets are met through monitoring and reporting.
• Secure quality and value for money by feedback, benchmarking and improvements.
• Develop, review and implement procedures to support efficient service delivery.
• Represent the service at internal and external meetings and case conferences.
• Collaborate with partner agencies including landlords, tenants and agents to deliver the service.
• Handle complex complaints and support the team in difficult cases.
• Assist budget monitoring and ensure value for money.
• Ensure delivery of fair and equal services in line with policies.
