Qualifications

Venn Group is supporting a proactive and collaborative local authority in the South East with the appointment of a Senior Housing Lawyer on a locum basis for an initial 3-month contract, with strong potential for extension.

Details:
Job Title: Senior Housing Lawyer
Hourly Rate: - umbrella (depending on experience)
Length of Contract: 3 months initially, with a strong possibility of extensions
Working Pattern: Full-time – 37 hours per week
Location: South East England
Remote Working: Fully remote considered

Duties/Responsibilities:
Working closely with the Council’s Housing Service to provide high-quality legal support across all aspects of housing and homelessness law. The role will include but is not limited to:

  • Managing and advising on complex housing litigation matters
  • Conducting casework in the County Court, Magistrates Court, and potentially the High Court
  • Undertaking advocacy and managing your own caseload
  • Providing supervision to junior colleagues and contributing to the wider legal team
  • Ensuring robust legal advice is delivered in line with legislation and Council policy

Experience:

  • Admitted Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives with a current practising certificate
  • Strong working knowledge of housing law, homelessness, and litigation procedure
  • Demonstrated experience of advocacy and case management
  • Prior line management or supervision experience within a legal environment
  • Organised, conscientious, and collaborative professional attitude
