Job description

LAW Absolute is recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority based in Berkshire, for an experienced housing lawyer to join them on a temporary basis for an initial 3-month contract with potential to extend.

You will advise the Council’s Housing Service in all aspects of Housing and Homelessness law, conducting advocacy for cases in the County Court and the Magistrates Court. As this is a senior role, you will also line manage junior staff.

Previous UK local government experience is essential. Ability to conduct advocacy in person in Berkshire when required is also essential.

To apply you will be:

  • An England and Wales qualified solicitor, barrister, or chartered legal executive
  • Able to demonstrate previous experience of handling a caseload of housing and homelessness law matters
  • Able to attend the office and court in Berkshire when required
  • Available on no more than a 2-week notice period

The salary for this role is £55-£65/hour umbrella, depending on experience.
