Job summary

YMCA Leicestershire is seeking a reliable Senior Housekeeper to maintain clean, safe and welcoming accommodation and communal spaces across sites in Leicester. You will ensure residents and staff feel respected and supported while protecting privacy and dignity.

Your duties include cleaning, laundry, workload planning and acting as the main contact for housekeeping cover, with a strong focus on safety, risk reporting and site coordination.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Clean communal kitchens, bathrooms, corridors, stairwells, offices and accommodation areas.
• Vacuum carpets, mop floors, clean ovens, surfaces, walls and internal windows, and dispose of waste appropriately.
• Keep external areas clear of litter and support the cleanliness of The Y Theatre.
• Thoroughly prepare vacant rooms, ensuring furniture, equipment and clean bedding are ready for new residents, and launder used linen.
• Act as the main point of contact for housekeeping cover across all sites.
• Identify and report hazards, damage, maintenance needs and safeguarding concerns.
• Liaise with Transition Coaches when mid-occupancy cleans are needed.
• Follow risk assessments, COSHH, infection-control and health and safety procedures.
• Use products, equipment and energy responsibly, and request stock when needed.
• Plan your workload, maintain simple records and complete tasks to agreed standards.
