Job summary

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is seeking a Senior Highways Inspection Officer to lead a team of Highway Inspectors and ensure safe, reliable roads across the borough. This full-time role offers hybrid working and a clear path to influence highway safety and maintenance standards.

You will report to the Highways Contract and Maintenance Manager, managing inspections, contractor performance, budgets, and customer enquiries, while supporting asset management and emergency response

Qualifications

• Qualified Highway Safety Inspector (C&G 6033/LANTRA) with NRSWA accreditation.
• Sound knowledge of highway legislation and inspection regimes.
• Experience managing works orders, budgets and asset management systems.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Collaborative, organised, and able to lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Highway Inspectors to meet inspections and targets.
• Undertake planned and reactive highway safety inspections and arrange remedial actions.
• Manage maintenance activities, contractor performance and budgets.
• Investigate customer enquiries and highway incidents with effective service.
• Support statutory duties through asset management and emergency response.
