WSP Lincolnshire invites experienced highway engineers to join our collaborative Lincoln highways design team, delivering projects for Lincolnshire County Council.

Based in Lincoln, you will own design from conception to construction, work alongside a wide network of engineers, and develop innovative, compliant solutions while advancing your career.

Qualifications

  • Experience in feasibility studies, design, maintenance, and supervision of highways projects.
  • Experience leading design, management and inspection of Highway Structures maintenance projects.
  • Knowledge of highway construction and delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 and associated duties.
  • Excellent working knowledge of DMRB standards, methods, and specification for Highway Works.
  • Progress towards IEng status is highly regarded.

  • Own and lead the design process, coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs to meet programme.
  • Manage projects to ensure on-time delivery within budget and safety requirements.
  • Oversee resources and allocate remote work as needed to meet workload.
  • Collaborate with clients and design teams to deliver compliant designs.
  • Develop relationships with LCC and WSP teams to access additional resources.
  • Agree fees and monitor the commercial position on projects.
  • Attend site to gather information and supervise schemes.

About your role…

You will be part of our highly collaborative team in Lincolnshire. As part of our Lincoln highways design team, comprising a wide network of Highway Engineers both locally and across the UK, you will deliver interesting Highway projects for our Lincolnshire County Council Client.

You will take on project responsibility from the outset, invariably owning your own projects from conception to construction. Your role will be at the heart of our high performing team, using your skills and expertise to help us continue driving forward in terms of both technical quality and service efficiency. Based in the heart of the vibrant and historic city of Lincoln, working in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council (LCC), you will report to a Principal Engineer. Responsibilities will include:

  • Own and lead the design process, encouraging your and wider teams to deliver the right solutions to the agreed programme and support those less experienced by technical review, mentoring and advice.
  • Manage projects to ensure coordination of multi-disciplinary inputs.
  • Manage resources effectively (including some remote resource) and efficiently to meet fluctuating workloads.
  • Work with clients and design teams to deliver compliant designs on time and within budget and meeting H&S, CDM, QA and technical review requirements.
  • Develop relationships with other LCC and WSP teams to utilise additional resources as required.
  • Agree fees and managing the commercial position on projects.
  • Attend site to gather information and supervise schemes.

We'd love to hear from you if you have...
  • Experience in undertaking feasibility studies, design, maintenance, and supervision of highways related projects.
  • Experience of leading the design, management and inspection of Highway Structures maintenance projects.
  • Knowledge of highway construction and delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of Construction Design Management 2015 and associated duties.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards, methods of working & Specification for Highway Works.
  • Progress towards achieving IEng status is highly regarded.
  • At this stage we would be keen to hear from both senior engineers and intermediate level highways engineers due to a healthy workload in the region.
